Toys ‘R’ Us has been forced to recall ‘Diet Piggy’, a stuffed pig that growls at children if they open the fridge, following a series of complaints.
Toy store chain Toys ‘R’ Us has recalled the controversial “Diet Piggy”, a toy pig designed to squeak every time someone opens the fridge thanks to a light sensor.
According to the product description, “This pig will put an end to nighttime trips to the fridge. The ideal gift for people who lack willpower.
The problem is that the big chain had classified the “Diet Piggy” as a toy for children from 8 to 11 years old.
After recalling the product, Toys ‘R’ Us claimed that the product had been incorrectly classified and should have belonged to its “Kidults” category, which contains adult toys, as it is “in no way intended to children”.
The discussion began with a tweet on Jan. 7 from Madresfera, an account dedicated to “inspiring ideas about raising today’s children.” The tweet asked how the brand could sell such an object and “to top it off” include it as a toy for 8-11 year olds. “But what are you doing?” he added.
Madre mia, @ToysRUsEsp how to sell an object así y encima incluirlo como juguete para 8-11 años??????https://t.co/XjPuSHJpBc
Pero ¿qué están haciendo? https://t.co/wegqjC2nQG

Some Twitter users have also argued that this toy shouldn’t be sold to adults either, because “obesity is no joke” and “eating disorders shouldn’t be encouraged.”
Tampoco parece me adecuado para adultos… la obesidad no es un chiste.

The Toys ‘R’ Us channel responded by thanking everyone who spoke up for “helping find the error on our site”.
