BERKELEY COUNTY, SC – The Pinopolis Navigation Lock on Moultrie Lake at the Jefferies Hydroelectric Generating Station will be out of service from 8 a.m. on Wednesday, August 25 until noon on Thursday, August 26, for scheduled maintenance.

The locking system will resume normal operations at the end of maintenance.

As a reminder, only motor boats are allowed in the lock. Boats or watercraft must be at least 10 feet in length and not more than 150 feet. Personal watercraft, like jet skis, must be attached to boats during the lock operation.

According to Santee Cooper, the Pinopolis Lock at Santee Cooper’s Jefferies Hydroelectric Power Station was the tallest single lift lock in the world when it was built in the early 1940s.
