Harold’s Toy Store in Shrewsbury Street is named after William Sankey’s late father, Harold, and is a family business with William’s sons, wife Rachael and mother, Louisa, playing key roles.
The family promises what it calls a new retail experience to complement the already thriving store community. They will officially open on Saturday April 2.
Store owner Rachael Sankey said: “We will be stocking fun, good quality products for all ages.
“We hope that the items we sell will offer sustainable options – either by design or because they are made to last and be collected.
“We also want to offer products that bring joy and are fun to buy in person.”
She added: “We will be offering a good selection of Lego and Schleich as well as some very fluffy alpacas.
“We also bring things for older kids, like Tamiya, Magic the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons radio-controlled cars as well as Warhammer from Games Workshop.
“There will be loads of other stuff and we’ll keep looking for more interesting stuff that isn’t readily available locally or even on the internet.
“We are really excited to open the store, the local people have been very supportive and enthusiastic,” she continued.
“Other shop owners have also been very welcoming and we are delighted to join them in making Church Stretton a great place to visit.”
