Residents of Mississauga and Brampton are encouraged to double-check their homes as Health Canada issues an alert for a “DigitDots” toy magnet set and recalls various cleaners and wet wipes.

The following products are affected:

Three different sets of DigitDots magnets: 3mm DigitDots Magnetic Balls – sold as loose magnets aggregated in sets of 512 multicolor magnetic balls, DigitDots Magnetic Balls 5mm – sold as loose magnets aggregated in sets of 222 silver magnetic balls or 224 multicolor magnetic balls .

Risk: These toy magnet sets pose a serious health problem for users due to their small size and strong magnetic ability. If more than one magnet is ingested at a time, the magnets may attempt to connect inside the body and cause tearing and blockage of internal organs.

What you should do: These sets were sold by HD Premier online at the website and have since been removed from the site.

The foreign company officially recalled the product in the United States but did not issue the same statement for Canada. Health Canada encourages consumers to immediately stop using the product, make sure all pieces are accounted for, and dispose of it in the trash.

Various Oasis shampoo tubs and capsules, Conti cleansing wipes and protective wipes and Senset wet wipes

Risk: According to Health Canada, some of the recalled products have microbial contamination. This contamination is particularly harmful for people with weakened immune systems or who have a pre-existing condition and who are at greater risk of developing an infection.

What you should do: Immediately discontinue use of the product and contact Vernacare Canada Incorporated. They can be reached by phone at 1-800-268-2422 (ext. 236), by email at [email protected] or visit the company’s website.
