A mum who was frustrated with toy store meltdowns has revealed the perfect way to stop temper tantrums, and it’s something you can do easily and will cost you absolutely nothing
It might be too early to think about Christmas at the minute, but we’re sure you’ll want to burn this simple hack into your brain – and tell all your friends with kids about it.
This “genius” trick that has amazed and baffled other parents in equal measure apparently prevents grumpy kids from going into full meltdown mode when they spot the toys they want.
A mum named Kristina Watts from Belfair, Washington has endured several ‘painful’ trips to toy stores in the past, with her daughter Emmie having severe seizures when her mother told her no to get a new toy.
But Kristina claims she’s found a way to stop the tears – and all you have to do is snap a shot.
She posted on Facebook saying, “Our trips to the store were much more strenuous this time of year. The toys came out with a bang…and of course, my kids want it all.
“Obviously, I would like to have nice, well-behaved, non-greedy, cold children who don’t ask for everything…but I don’t. So drop your judgment Karen, and stop reading if you have children like that.
“Now…if you have kids like mine…who want the amazing, shiny things that fill up Target, the grocery store, Office Depot, the gas station, and just about everywhere you go this time of year. the year is for you.”
The mum told Kidspot that all you need to do is take a picture – it’s as simple as that.
She said: “Pause for a second, comment on the thing they’re pointing at and say, ‘Let’s take a picture with it and send it to Santa so he knows you want it!’
“Like magic, Emmie smiles, says cheese, asks to see the picture, then puts the toy down and walks away.
” It is magic. No tears. No tantrums (by either of us). And she forgets them all in a few minutes.
“Maybe you’ve been doing this for ages and haven’t selfishly shared this tip with me…or maybe you’re like me and this is about to turn your world upside down. For real , try it friends.
The parents were seriously impressed by the hack, with one adding: “It couldn’t have happened a moment earlier because I was about to lose my mind in the shops.”
One mum commented, “That’s genius! Girls love pictures too, so it serves as a distraction and I never have to buy the outrageous toy!
Another parent said, “I love this idea. How excited will they be when they open it thinking it’s from Santa.
