Oakland’s food scene has never been hotter, and you’re invited to dine at the start of Restaurant Week. Dozens of restaurants participate with special tasting menus for lunch and dinner. Chef Nelson, the rock star chef at the helm of Sobre Mesa, serves up killer new cocktails with his menu. Chef Jen Biesty has a roast pork shoulder on her menu as it’s MOLE night in Agave with better food than anything your mom has ever made! Oakland #ORW Restaurant Week runs for 10 days from today through next Sunday.
FILM: THE OUTFIT
The Outfit is set in a Chicago tailor’s shop in the 1950s; it’s not about the outfits he makes, but about an underworld consortium his gangster clients hope to join. This suspenseful film is a pressure cooker that did what and specifically tailored to suit its lead, Mark Rylance, and its most menacing client, Simon Russell Beale, both of whom are nuanced stage performers. It’s full of suspense and surprises. The “must see” outfit makes the cut and plays now.

FILM: SONOMA FILM FESTIVAL
Get your movie passes now for the Sonoma International Film Festival, offering the best in film, food, wine and fun and celebrating 25 years from Wednesday, March 23 through Sunday. This landmark event features over 100 new films from around the world, spectacular culinary occasions, panels, live music, parties and special events. Starred chefs Jacques Pepin and Joanne Weir are celebrated with a special lunch and tribute dinner. Happy 25th to the little film festival that might. We’ll see each other there.
