Martial arts school could win £ 100,000 as it reaches the last stage of a future building program.
Masters of Martial Arts, which is based above McDonald’s in downtown Blackburn, is a finalist for the Persimmon Homes 2021 Building Futures Award.
The community interest enterprise’s mission is to “promote and develop an inclusive sports community that responds to the region’s multi-faceted characteristics”.
Phil Turner, who heads Masters of Martial Arts CIC, said, “We want to increase long-term participation in sport and help create a healthier community.
“We see our club as a way for young people to get a good start in life and it’s also great to see the benefits in terms of trust and friendship as well.
“You can vote every day and we would be grateful if you could help bring this award to our local community. ”
Winners will be determined by public vote and the local group could win up to £ 100,000 if successful, calls for public support with a simple online vote.
Building Futures is a £ 1million program to support children’s health, sports, education and the arts.
Persimmon Homes has partnered with Team GB – the British Olympic Association – to donate over £ 1million to help projects for young people under 18 in England, Wales and Scotland .
