In preparation for Halloween, Newtown Parks and Recreation hosted a Spooktacular Family Fun event at the Newtown Community Center on October 27. Goblins, skeletons, witches and more took part in a variety of games and an obstacle course. There were cart rides, a DJ night and prizes among the fun for all.
“The event was awesome and a huge success. We had around 150 to 160 participants. Everyone loves the Hay Ride, the volunteers were amazing – couldn’t have been a success without their help, ”said Deputy Director of Recreation Rose Ann Reggiano.
Parks & Rec employees John Moore and David White drove tractors for the hay rides, DJ Nico provided music and games, and pumpkins were donated by Castle Hill Farm.
Reggiano thanked the vendors who presented, Robeks / Mark Henriques and his family who distributed the smoothies; CH Cabin Library, New York Life; Michael Count with a winning wheel; and SDSS Martial Arts of Newtown, which provided an obstacle course and a chance to snap a board in half.
The costume winners are: Family Look Alike went to the scarecrow family, the scariest was Chuckie, the cutest went to the baby cow, the most creative was the Harley Quinn costume and the funniest was a little one Grandmother.
“Everyone left smiling and happy,” said Reggiano.
